I've been eating at Mountain View or "Ronnie's" for years and when it comes to Mexican food I use them as my gold standard that I compare every other restaurant to. Whenever I make it back to the Valley I always make sure I get at least one meal here. That meal normally is a breakfast burrito, but this trip my first meal here was not a breakfast burrito, but a chicken burrito. Now my usual is the bean burrito, filled with wonderfully cooked pinto beans then smothered green chili, but I do think I might have found a new usual. I was expecting shredded chicken like you find in their amazing chicken enchiladas, but it was just sliced chicken. I'm not exactly sure how they marinated the chicken, but it was really, really good. Top that off with their amazing green chili and it was a combination that is hard to beat. Ever since I moved away from the Valley in the late 90s I compare every Mexican restaurant I eat at to this place, and I can honestly say that I've ate at several very good Mexican food restaurants, none have been as good as this place. I will continue to make this place a must eat when I visit the Valley, and yes it is that good.

A good selection of American & Mexican food. From salads, hamburgers, steaks, salmon, chicken fried steak to enchiladas, burritos and chili Rellenos. Perhaps some of the best green chili in Monte Vista. Excellent for breakfast!

We didn't come here for Mexican food, and honestly, I would have never thought it was a Mexican restaurant... I was in town passing through and we stopped here for breakfast. I was super impressed by how clean the place was. The staff was friendly, you can tell this is a place where people know people... that awesome small town feeling. We had a great breakfast, hot and quick.... I was super stuffed and super please and next time in town, I would gladly check out some of the other menu items.

The first thing you see at Mountain View Restaurant is a sign warning that parents need to control their children. As with a "no shirt/no shoes/no service," a gesture that is intended to increase classiness has the opposite effect. Your more upscale spots tend to have the confidence to refrain from such warnings. Other than that I liked it. Huevos rancheros was nicely assembled and featured zingy green chili. Even the beans were prepared with care. The iced tea was refreshing. The waitress was almost psychic in anticipating requests.

Service was fast and food came out even faster. Green chili while tasted good was a lil to salty for me. They are a bit pricier on the steaks and seafood dinners.

Most delicious lunch! I had chicken burrito with green chile and my husband had the sirloin sandwich special. The food was some of the best ever, the atmosphere was friendly and pleasant, and our waitress, Michelle, was great. Highly recommend.

Super Awesome Margarita and good food to boot. I went here on a recommendation and was pleased with everything. I tried the ranch burger and enjoyed it. But the best part had to be the Horny Margarita (made with Hornito's) which was quite tasty! I look forward to trying this place again!

Best place we ate in Monte Vista! The green chili was excellent and the service was great! We will be back on our next visit.
